Each year, we estimate that the amazing support of our army of volunteers saves us over £1 million.
Our volunteers have their own reasons for wanting to be part of the Hospice team. Here are just some of the other reasons why we think you might like to make a difference to Hospice;
You will receive a warm welcome from the Hospice team when you join and we will provide you with all the training needed to carry out your new role. We will also provide you with on-going support as a volunteer.
At Hospice, we completely understand that our roles need to be flexible to fit in with your lifestyle and other commitments. Regardless of how much time you are able to give to us, you will be helping to make a difference.

We have 7 charity shops and a warehouse located across the Island served by a friendly group of volunteers. Our volunteer shop roles include a mix of responsibilities including customer service, processing till sales and returns, visual merchandising and stock preparation including sorting, steaming and pricing.
A chance to work in a friendly team, meet and greet patients and visitors, whilst also answering telephone calls and escorting visitors to the patients’ rooms. Occasionally there will also be a requirement to help out in the coffee shop.
Our events and fundraisers go a long way to helping us raise the vital funds we need to offer our services, and we simply couldn’t host these without the support of volunteers.
Activities are ad hoc and range from car park attending, handing out refreshments to marshalling events, selling raffle tickets and managing stalls.
If you love being behind the wheel and want to make a difference, then you could help our patients who struggle to get to and from Hospice. Our volunteer drivers help patients, who otherwise might not be able to access our clinical appointments or day unit activities.
We offer a number of complementary therapies to patients and their carers. These therapies help relieve stress, aid relaxation and promote a sense of well-being amongst patients. We are always looking for trained therapists who have a few hours spare.
If you are green-fingered and have a few hours to spare then you could help out in our beautiful gardens. Job responsibilities include a variety of gardening tasks under the supervision of the Head Gardener.
We offer a choice of many other volunteer opportunities including flower arranging, serving teas and coffees to patients, supporting nursing staff with washing & feeding and assisting patients with shopping and errands.
We would love to know if you have any particular skills you’d like to share so that we can find a role to suit you.
